LT. John C. Moriarty graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1943. During his senior year he served as the Senior Class Treasurer and the Vice President of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Gamma.About 1000, Lt Moriarty was killed when his jeep hit a mine returning to his company. The Battalion lost a real gentleman and a hard fighter.
