More information

Pfc William A. Letersky was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for distinguishing himself by heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the Unites States on 2 March 1945 in Germany. In an attack on a village, three direct fire weapons threatened to hold up the advance of the company. Without regard for his personal safety, Pfc Letersky and two comrades changed the position routing the enemy, killing eight, capturing twenty, and destroying their weapons.

Three of his brothers also served during the war.
