S/Sgt Theodore H. Hackenberg enlisted in Detroit, Michigan on 23 April 1941.He trained at Camp Sheridan, Illinois, transferred to Seattle, Washington, then to Dutch Harbor, Aleution Islands and on to Adak, Alaska. His service caused the loss of taste and smell. He returned to the U.S. for treatment. We was transferred to the infantry at Camp Haan, California and later was sent to Camp Howze, Texas
He was wounded on 4 April 1945 in the vicinity of Bad Driburg, Germany. The exact location where he died is not known.
