More information

Pvt Seymour B. Schinasi was a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin in 1942-1943.

He enlisted in New York city, New York on 31 July 1944.

A comrade, Mayes Key, from E Company remembers the night of 2 March well because it was the day before his 19th birthday. It was a night attack and they crossed the canal and started across the field. There was a lot of German fire coming at them from the factory building and a trench before the factory. They got as far as the barbed wire fence before the trench and Pvt Schinasi, First Scout, reached the fence first. He called out for a wire cutter. The German fire was too much and the order was given to pull back. Schinasi was hit in the leg and died at the barbed wire fence.
