John T. Di Mauro enlisted at Camp Upton, New York on 26 April 1944.John T. Di Mauro joined his unit from the 92nd Replacement Battalion on 3 January 1944.
He was killed during a severe German artillery barrage while occupying positions in the densely wooded Ardennes forest. Pfc Di Mauro had suffered a severe leg wound which ultimately led to his death.
John T. Di Mauro was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Foy, Belgium on 2 March 1945. He was disinterred and was transported to Henri-Chapelle where he was given his final resting place on 28 November 1948.
