Pfc Charles A. Hooks attended high school for 2 years and was a sales clerk.He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on 30 November 1943.
He joined his unit from the 48th Replacement Battalion on 20 July 1944.
He was lightly wounded on 11 August 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.
