Pfc Marvin E. Smith high school for one year.

He enlisted in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on 11 June 1942.

Pfc Smith joined his unit from the 48th Replacement Battalion.

He had been wounded in action in France on 14 August 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. He was mortally wounded on 11 December 1944.
