Pfc Archie Lavasseur Jr. was lightly wounded in action on 16 July 1944 and rejoined his unit four days later. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.
