T/Sgt Thomas F. Cycon graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1939. Prior to entering the service, he was employed at the Winchester Repeating Arms Company.He was reported severely wounded in action on 4 July 1944 in St. Lo, France and was transferred tot the 128th Evacuation Hospital in England where he spent six months. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. After recovering he rejoined his unit.
