T/Sgt William U. Ettinger Jr. graduated from Staples High School in Westport in 1941.He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Hartford, Connecticut on 2 October 1942. He was sent overseas in June 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Andilly, France.
