More information
Capt Daniel M. Moore was wounded on 12 April 1945 in the vicinity of Westerhausen, Germany while covering his men on a reconnaissance patrol as they attempted to capture a German position. When Capt Moore was evacuated it was a great loss to the battalion and to the regiment. B Company had been through some of the heaviest fighting of this war and Capt Moore, the original company commander in the regiment, had led this company all the way through the bitter fighting in Normandy, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Hürtgen forest, the Ardennes and in the race of the division into the heart of the German Reich. The exact location to where he was evacuated and where he died is not known.
Captain Moore is memorialized at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Mc Alester, Oklahoma.
