Pvt Albert Riedl attended St Henry's and Connelly Trade Schools and was employed by the Champion Laundry Co.

He enlisted on 18 January 1944 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida and Fort Georg G. Meade, Maryland and departed for overseas duty in July of 1944 where he joined his unit from the 53rd Replacement Battalion on 17 August 1944.
