Cpl Leslie W. Painter enlisted at Fort McClellan, Alabama on 17 July 1942. He attended high school for 4 years and was a farmer before he enlisted.He was taken prisoner of war on 18 November 1944 when his unit was fighting in Hamich, in the Hurtgen Forest in Germany.
Cpl Leslie W. Painter is remembered at Concord United Baptist Church Cemetery in Hustleville, Marshall County, Alabama.
