S/Sgt Jenis C. Nielsen attended high school for 1 year and was a newsboy before he joined the Regular Army in New York City, New York, on 13 February 1941.He was killed by shrapnel in his left eye and was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Solers, France.
The VFW Post #8052 in New York was named in his honor.
