More information

Pvt Francis L. Dennison enlisted at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky on 14 March 1944.

He attended Fairfield Co. schools and as a civilian he worked on the farm of Lester Peters near Pleasantville for several years. He received 17 weeks basic Army training at Camp Blanding in Florida, then was home on his only furlough for 15 days in late July, 1944. He sailed overseas about August 12, 1944, after being stationed at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland a short time.
The last letter his wife and parents received was written November 16 in which Pvt Dennison stated he was ill and confined in a hospital. Apparently he recovered and rejoined his outfit at the front later.
Pvt Dennison had taken part in the drive through France and Belgium. He was first in England and Scotland before being sent to France.
