S/Sgt Stanley J. Baltusnik joined the Regular Army on 16 January 1940.

He attended public school in Binghamton and was a member of the National Guard before his enlistment. He was at Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7., 1941 and received slight wounds in the first Japanese assault. He returned to the U.S. for further training a short time later. He received training in the anti-tank corps receiving medals for sharpshooting and marksmanship. He served at Camp Beale, Cal., Camp Maxey, Tex., Camp Gruber, Okla., and Fort Meade, Md., before being shipped to the European theatre in the spring of 1944.
