More information

T/5 Willis E. Cochran was awarded the Silver Star twice (the second time posthumously) for gallantry in action in connection with combat operations against the enemy.

He was known as a tall frail man who had never been well, so is was surpirising that he passed the physical examinations. With a radiant smile and understanding heart, friends warmed to his kindly nature, while children everywhere were his constant joy and delight. Many of the pictures he had sent home are of children - boys on foreign soil who reminded him of his own twin brothers at home, who were just six months when he was killed.

He had eleven brothers and sisters.
