Pfc Fred J. Wilt enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 12 May 1943 and received his basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala. and further training at Fort Meade, Md. He participated in the invasion of Normandy and was among the first to land in Europe. Prior to his induction he was employed by the Mack Manufacturing Corp.
