Pfc James J. Jonson was the son of the late John D. Jonson, who returned to Greece in 1913 to enlist in his native country's armed forces during the Greek-Turkish war. Mr. Johnson died in August, 1941.He graduated from Hamilton High School and was employed at the Estate Stove Company.
He enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio on 22 February 1943. He was trained to become a ground crew member of the Air Corps until November 1944, when he was transferred to the infantry. He was sent overseas in February 1945.
