Pfc John M. Tomala attended Lancaster High School and was employed at Stephan Brothers.He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 13 February 1943. He was sent overseas in June 1943.
He served in the North Africa and Sicilian campaigns.
His body was found and first buried as unknown at the temporary American Cemetery at La Cambe, France. Later, he was transported to the American War Cemetery Ardennes for identification, where Pfc Tomala was interred permanently.
