Pfc Lloyd G. Ferguson enlisted in Camp Blanding, Florida on 8 June 1944. He had attempted to join the Navy earlier but was declared 4F because he had flat feet. The Army accepted him later when he tried again.His son competed nationally for an appointment to West Point under the Sons of Deceased Veterans allocation and was one of 13 selected in 1956. He attended West Point and went on to become a Brigadier General with the U.S. Army.
