T/Sgt Linwood T. Newsome joined the Regular Army on 2 August 1939.According to to a POW record, T/Sgt Newsome died in German Dressing Station on 15 December 1944. It is possible he was wounded in action, taken prisoner and died of his wounds the same day. The exact circumstances and the location where he died, are not known. At that time, the regiment was fighting in the vicinity of Bergstein, Hürtgen Forest, Germany.
