S/Sgt Burrell O. Whately attended high school for four years and was employed at Wabash Railway Company.He went overseas in December, 1943.
His brother, Robert Laverne Whately, was killed on November 23, 1943 in the battle for Tarawa and is memorialized at Honolulu Memorial in Hawaii.
