Lt Col Clarence K. Hollingsworth enlisted at Fort Jackson and was sent overseas in December 1943. For a short time he was in Ireland and arrived in France on 5 July 1944.He was wounded on 14 April 1945 in Wintersberg, Germany after single handedly capturing nine enemies. He died on 16 May 1945 from these wounds in a hospital in France.
He is remembered at the Bethany Baptist Cemetery, McCormick County, South Carolina.
