Walter S. Covington Jr. attended the Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, with the class of 1946.He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 1 March 1944.
He was killed by shell fragments in the head and was initially buried at Henri-Chapelle in a temporary grave on 26 February 1945. He was given his final resting place on 4 August 1948.
