S/Sgt George D. Thomas enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 4 June 1941. He served two years in Panama and one year in the states before being sent to Europe in August 1944.

He was wounded in December 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. He returned to his unit just before being killed in February 1945.
