T/5 James W. Connolly graduated from Darlington High School in 1933 and was a sales clerk at A & P Tea Company.He joined the Regular Army at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois on 6 November 1941. He was sent to Iceland on 6 April 1942 and spent 16 months there before his transfer to the British Isles.
T/5 Connolly is remembered at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in Truman, Lafayette County, Wisconsin with a memorial marker.
