Jerome C. Deneen graduated from Black Earth High School and worked on his father's farm.

He enlisted at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on 7 November 1941.

On 17 September 2000 skeletal remains were discovered in the Horseshoe Woods, located near Corny, France. A civilian group, Thanks GI Association, discovered the remains and an identification tag. In May 2001 the identification process had been completed and the remains were positively identified as Pfc Deneen.

Pfc Deneen was buried at St Barnabas Cemetery with full honors in Mazomanie, Wisconsin on 8 Sepember 2001 - exactly 57 years after his death.

In Corny-sur-Moselle, a street is named after him.
