More information

Pfc Alfred J. Clement attended Graveraet High School and was a mechanic.

He enlisted at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on 6 November 1941.

On 12 and 13 September 2000, members of a local French historical group called "Thanks Gis" were digging on the eastern bank of the Moselle River, near the town of Corny in an area known as Horseshoe Woods, when they encountered human remains and U.S. military artifacts. The group turned the remains over to the U.S. Army Mortuary Affairs Activity-Europe. On 14 and 15 September representatives from USAMMAA-E also visited the excavation site and observed the skeletal remains in situ prior to their removal.

After identification, Pfc Clement was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia on 15 October 2003.
