More information

1st Lt James B. Van Horn graduated from the University of Arizona in 1937. He was a teacher at Mansfield Junior High School.

Lt Van Horn together with a B Company rifleman rushed to the entrance of the main fort, but both were killed immediately by machinegun fire. due to the tactical situation at the time this incident occured, the fact that the enemy regained and occupied the fort for a period of three months, no attempt could be made to evacuate the remains and no subsequent search of the area could be made by the unit concerned. A field investigation was conducted in the area in november 1946 with negative results.
