More information

Pfc Anthony J. Jarosz enlisted in Syracruse, New York on 5 January 1944.
He worked on a farm before he enlisted.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.

His mother was presented his bronze Star Medal. The citation reads in part: "When forward elements of our forces were pinned down by enemy automatic and sniper fire, Pfc Jarosz, an assistant gunner, set up his mortar to blast snipers out. Running low on ammunition, Pfc Jarosz, with total disregard for his personal safety, voluntarily crawled over 200 yards of exposed terrain to the ammunition depot, making numerous trips until there was sufficient ammunition for his mortar, which he continued to fire until mortally wounded by sniper fire."
