Pfc Frank C. Silvia enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 13 June 1944. Before entering the army, Frank Silvia was employed by his father at the Oliphant Dairy. He left for overseas duty in November. He had two children, Francis Jr., 4 and William David, 1.An assault boat in which he was using to cross the river capsized. Silvia was carrying a 546 Radio, was seen to go under the water, and he never came back up. His remains where located in the silt under the bridge in Echternach in 1951.
