1st Lt Henry T. Bass enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida, on 7 April 1942.He graduated from Okeechobee High School and Stetson University. and worked as a foreman in a sawmill at the Pine Land Company before he enlisted.
Cannon Company moved into the bridgehead in the morning and moved into firing position North of Lieg. While setting up a firing control point 1st Lt Henry Bass (CO), 1st Lt Stanley Anderson (Executive Officer) and Pvt. Owen R. Stanley (Company Aid man) were all killed by a direct artillery hit.
