More information

Pfc James A. Stephens attended Wisner High School for two years.

He was wounded in the vicinity of Dornot, France.

“Stephens was with the cannons when he was hit by shells. The medics rolled him on his stomach. He was moving all around and the medics tried to keep him still. They lifted his shirt and gave him a few shots of morphine. I looked down at him and saw that he had a cut over 8 inches long by his kidneys. The officer called out for a jeep driver to bring him to a field hospital.”

He was initialy buried at the Champigneul Cemetery in Chalons sur Marne, France.
