Pfc Merrell Christian joined the Regular Army at Ft. McClellan, Alabama on 27 October 1941.He was a chauffeur before he enlisted.
At the time of his death the 11th Infantry Regiment was engaged in the fighting in the vicinity of Lauterbach-Ludweiler, Germany.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
