1st Lt William T. Carter was employed at the Sinclair refining company, East Alton, for 10 years, before entering the service. He was inducted in March, 1942, and was sent overseas in August of 1944. He was born in Medora and graduated from the Medora Township High School in 1926. As a boy, he was affiliated with the Methodist church. After graduation he lived in St. Louis for two years and changed his letter to the Baptist church.
