More information

Sgt Clarke P. Grimes was a graduate of Shortridge High School. He was a pre-medical student at Butler University where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Sphinx Club and Blue Key.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Indianapolis, Indiana on 14 December 1942.

He was wounded in action on 18 November 1944 and died in the hospital unit of the 2nd Platoon of the 48th Field Hospital. About the exact location there is a contradiction in his IDPF. In this record is noted that he died in Alsdorf, Germany, but at that time the 2nd Platoon of the 48th Field Hospital was located in an abandoned school building in Ubach-Palenberg, some 10 km to the north.
