John R. Wood graduated from Florence High School in 1940.

He enlisted on 9 February 1943 in Denver, Colorado.

He was reported wounded in action near Linnich.

One photo showes him in his battle gear on 7 February 1945, just weeks before he was killed.

The photo in color is of John Wood and his wife Louise Marie Vitale.

The third picture shows him in the middle with his stepfather William Sudo on his left and his mother Iva Bertha May (Lou) Horning Wood Sudo, and his niece Carole Wates.

He is remebered at the Union Highlands Cemetery in Florence, Colorado. The ladies on either side are his sisters, Dorothy Jacqueline Wood Chiri (on the left) and Leona Jeannette Wood Wates (on the right).

The final black & white is a picture of his nieces at his grave stone, Judith Chiri Mulkey (on the left) and Carole Wates Lanoff (on the right).
