Pfc William V. Boyles graduated from Parson High School with the class of 1943. He was employed at Newport News, Virginia before he enlisted on 1 September 1944. He trained at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, Fort McClellan, Alabama, and Camp Meade, Maryland.
