More information

Pfc Clarence A. Butts graduated from Jewell High School in 1936. He had been working on the family farm at the time he entered the service. After two deferments because he was engaged in farming, he refused to ask for another and enlisted on 11 November 1942. He trained at Camp Maxey and Camp Swift both in Texas.

He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Margraten on 19 December 1944. After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 1 December 1948.
