Sgt Joseph R. Zilinsky attended high school for three years and was employed at the Waterbury plant of the Risdon Mfg. Co.He enlisted at Hartford, Connecticut on 17 November 1942. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
His brother, Cpl George P. Zilinski, was reported missing in action on 28 February 1943 during heavy engagments with the enemy near Sidi Bou Zid in Tunisia. He is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing at the North Africa American Cemetery in Carthage, Tunisia.
