S/Sgt Jakie P. Moran enlisted on 12 November 1942 and was sent overseas on 1 May 1944.

His wife's last letter from her husband was dated 15 November, in which he said he was in a rest camp in Holland.

His brother-in-law, Pvt Everett C. Holliday, was killed in action in France on 10 September 1944.
