Pfc Charles E. Smith attended Ellensburg High School.He enlisted in 1943 and was sent overseas in November 1944.
Pfc Charles E. Smith was killed by the accidental discharge of a weapon in the hands of another soldier, according to a letter received by his parents from Maj Gen A.R. Bolling, his commanding officer.
