Pvt Robert F. Savin enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 19 April 1944. He first trained in field artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, then was transferred to the infantry and trained at Camp Maxey, Texas. He was sent overseas in December 1944.
