Pfc Lyman B. Hart graduated from Brighton High School and attended the University of Rochester.

He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 18 August 1943. He was selected for the A.S.T.P. program and sent to Lafayette College. When the program was disbanded, he was transferred to the infantry. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
