When conquering the village on Nadrin under heavy artillery fire this unit had to pull up. Tanks and tankdestroyers could not support because the roads filled with mines. During this advance Pfc John T. Gunter was injured by bomb shards on 14 January 1945 and died of his wounds three days later.
