Pfc Jewell I. Dilsaver graduated from Mattoon High School and attended the Hill at Pottstown, Penssylvania and Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire where he served as captain in the R.O.T.C.He enlisted in Peoria, Illinois on 16 February 1943 and was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program at Johns Hopkins University. When the program was disbanded, he was transferred to the infantry.
