More information
Wiiliam H. Fehrle worked as a tinsmith, coppersmith or a sheet metal worker. He enlisted in Camden, New Jersey on 3 March 1942.
He was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schoenberg, Belgium on 21 December 1944 and located in POW Camp Stalag IV-B.
According to documents of the Polizei-Abteilung Duderstadt, dated 28 April 1949, Sgt. Fehrle died in the community hospital of Duderstadt, Germany and was initially buried at the cemetery of this town. Taking into account the information in which camp he was held prisoner of war, it is not clear, based on the information currently available, how and when he would have ended up in this hospital. Further research on this is needed as soon as other documents can be found.
