1st Lt Malcolm C. Lowe was a member of the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps of the University of New Hampshire in 1943. He was called up for active duty between 15 February and 1 March 1943 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.

He married on 14 July 1944 when he was at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

In the late afternoon of 27 March 1945, Oflag XIII-B was reached by the Task Force Baum, attempting to liberate the U.S. POW's.
