Pvt Jack F. Smith graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1942 and attended the University of Florida for eight months.He enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida on 13 February 1943. He was taken prisoner of war in the vicinity of St. Vith Belgium on 21 December 1944 and died from malnutrician, diarrhea and heartfailure in Stalag IX-B.
